Stavrou has written fiction and non-fiction for
numerous publications in the U.S. and Europe. He is the
author of the award-winning travel book Wasted Away, the
novel On Leaving Venice, the award-winning
play Picketing With Prometheus, as well as the optioned
(Fox Searchlight) screenplays Slapping Plastic
and Changing Time Zones. He is the
winner of the PEN Center International Imitation
Hemingway Writing Award, a long-time member of the
International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association
and the Georgetown Entertainment & Media Alliance.
He graduated from Georgetown University with a
degrees in English Literature and International
Relations and then worked as a copywriter in San
Francisco and Las Vegas and a teacher in both the US and
Europe. American born and raised, he has lived in Europe for
much of the past two decades.
